Red flags on a registered agent’s page
Mainstay Filing publishes a price, a renewal price and its inclusions, so none of the flags below applies to it. None of these proves a company is bad. Each is a reason to read the terms more carefully, and each is something we saw on at least one page.
- No renewal price. MyCompanyWorks publishes only a “starting at” price (read October 2026).
- A higher price in year two. ZenBusiness ($99 then $199), Harbor Compliance ($99 then $159), FreeRegisteredAgent.com ($0 then $129) and Launch Registered Agent ($34.99 then $48.99).
- No inclusions listed. Standard Filings, Swyft Filings, MyUSACorporation, MyLLC, CorpNet and IncParadise list none on the pricing page.
- Unusual billing. Swyft Filings: Billed $149 per quarter, which is $596 a year.
- A free first year. FreeRegisteredAgent.com offers one; ask what year two costs.
Mainstay Filing publishes a price, a renewal price and what the price includes, and says its first three government mailings a year are scanned free, with a per-piece fee after that.
