Is Mainstay Filing legit?

We cannot certify any company, including our pick. What Mainstay Filing publishes meets all five criteria: a price ($149 a year for registered agent only), a renewal price (the same), what it includes, and its price terms. It renews at $199 a year, with no rate that jumps at renewal and no new line items.

What each provider’s own registered agent page publishes, read October 2026. “Not stated” means we did not find it on the page, not that the provider lacks it.

What its pages say

  • $199 a year covers formation prepared and filed, the registered agent all year, the annual report prepared and filed, and the EIN application; the price is the same for every entity type and state.
  • A registered agent alone, for a company that is already formed, is $149 a year. That plan does not include the annual report.
  • Service of process is scanned and uploaded the same business day at no fee.
  • The first three government mailings a year are scanned free; after that a per-piece fee applies.
  • Tell Mainstay Filing before renewal and it will not renew. A filing already submitted that year cannot be refunded.

What it does not offer

It does not file DBAs and does not offer mail forwarding or a virtual office. The registered agent address is not a business mailing address and cannot stand in for one, for example for bank verification.
